Never won the music scholarship to Berkeley, or even took band or choir in high school. Never took piano or guitar lessons, but little by little, from garage bands to some of the best Honky Tonks in West Texas, Robby got his musical education from some of the best musicians in the area where he grew up.

After having a smash hit on Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley, Robby moved to Nashville and furthered his education through legendary producers and Hall of Fame songwriters.
